Guild Giving Day Frequently Asked Questions

Where will the funds go?

The Guild Opportunities Fund supports students in accessing the full benefits of a Stephen Perse education and the enhanced opportunities this enables, thanks to the generosity of Guild members and friends. It removes barriers of cost for eligible students in line with our vision of an outstanding educational environment that:

  • Fosters modern scholarship through exceptional teaching and a dynamic, flexible, and rigorous academic curriculum.
  • Provides outstanding breadth of opportunity and quality of experience through a rich and varied co-curriculum.
  • Nurtures and celebrates individuality, wellbeing, personal development, and contribution to the growth of others, through superb pastoral care, social and emotional education, and learning support.
  • Champions and models equality, diversity and inclusivity, and social and environmental responsibility with a global outlook.

Gifts of all sizes to the Guild Opportunities Fund make a very real difference individually and collectively.

Is my payment secure?

Yes. All payments through givingday.stephenperse.com will be securely processed by Stripe:
- Stripe UK Privacy Policy
- Stripe US Privacy Policy

Why is my payment not going through?

Please check that you have included your postcode in both the address field and the card details fields of the gift form. If there is still a problem, you may have to contact your card provider and inform them that the payment is valid.
For any further queries, please contact us at development@stephenperse.com.

Can I see my gift on this website?

Yes! Unless you have asked for your gift to be anonymous, you can take a look at the donor wall to see your name.

Is there another way to donate to you other than online?

Payment by Cheque

You can make a gift by cheque, payable to Stephen Perse Foundation Development Account, and post it for the attention of:

Helen Cornish
Director of Development & Communications
Stephen Perse Cambridge
Union Road
Cambridge CB2 1HF

Please include a covering letter stating if you wish to make a gift in the name of a particular house as part of the challenges. Please also enclose a gift aid statement if you are a UK taxpayer and wish us to reclaim the basic rate tax on your gift. This will add a further £2.50 to every £10 that you give to the Guild Opportunities Fund. If you are a higher-rate taxpayer, you can reclaim the difference between your basic and higher rate tax on your annual tax return or by asking HMRC to adjust your tax code.

Payment by Charitable Voucher

If you have a tax-efficient giving account with the Charities Aid Foundation, Charities Trust, or equivalent organisations, you can make a gift to the Stephen Perse Foundation via their online systems or by completing a paper charitable gift voucher and posting it to the address above, as for a banker’s cheque. The charitable gift voucher should be made payable to The Stephen Perse Foundation. Please state whether you wish to make a gift in the name of one of the houses as part of the challenges.

Can I set up a recurring payment and what will show in the totaliser?

If you would like to make a regular gift by Direct Debit, thank you! You can set this up at
https://www.stephenperse.com/donate by selecting "Make a Regular Direct Debit Donation".

Our regular gifts are processed by the Charities Aid Foundation. If you’d like to post a message on the donor wall after setting up your regular gift, email development@stephenperse.com, and we’ll add your message for you.

I still have questions. How can I get in touch?

Feel free to email us at development@stephenperse.com.

Is there a minimum donation?

Our minimum donation online is £1.

How can I give my gift?

You can give your gift online on this website or by post as mentioned above.

Question about tax-deductibility or Gift Aid

If you are a UK taxpayer, you can make your donation(s) under the HMRC Gift Aid scheme, which allows us to reclaim the basic rate income tax that you paid on the income used to make your gift.

This adds 25p extra to the value of your gift for every £1 that you donate, at no extra cost to you. In addition, if you pay tax at a higher rate than the basic rate, you can include your gifts on your tax return and reclaim the difference between the basic rate and your highest tax rate paid.

If you are paying online via our Guild Giving Day webpages, or on the main Stephen Perse Cambridge website
https://www.stephenperse.com/donate, you can make your Gift Aid declaration as part of the online giving process.

To do this for any gift that you make by bank transfer, standing order, or cheque, please complete and return this gift aid form, or email development@stephenperse.com for a paper copy by post.
